So Torino used to be open during the day serving up their delicious illy coffee and snacks. Then they did a complete facelift and now serve expensive, aesthetically pleasing, fix priced menu items that are crazy to look at. It's a place you go for a special occasion, not for a random Thursday night dinner. I have no doubt they are really good. I hope I get to try them someday. I'll have to save my pennies! I kind of miss being able to go in mid-day and having a european coffee and working on my Macbook. Or drinking a craft cocktail/glass of wine and working. Oh those were the days. Torino's Website

I had a lot of great times at Cork- mostly during happy hour and solid appetizers, and always including some delicious red wine. This place has changed ownership a few times, and I’ve lost track of how they’re doing lately though I’d like to visit again soon. Here were some highlights: Silvan spreads: A variety of vegetable and cheese spreads, crackers and baked bread, this was soooo much better than it sounds because of the unique and everchanging flavors. Potatoes: They were magical, crispy, salty, and everything a potato needs to be (but better than I’d tasted before). And the Aioli was the crowning glory. However, I had them again and they had changed the recipe. My only hope is that they changed them back! The perfect potato! Meat/ cheese platters: A little chutney, tapenade, pepper and smoke- the variety of meats and cheeses was always a win especially with a perfect glass of something. Entrees: I had a few, and they were expensive. Delicious, but not good enough for the price tab. I decided to stick with the appetizers. OK, so- here’s the wrap up- I used to LOVE this place, then I had a couple of lackluster visits. But I still have hope that they can be as they used to be, and it’s in my plans to return sooner rather than later to see if that’s the case. Cork Wine Pub's Website *Bad photo with old phone China Ruby is just one of those places that you go to in order to get cheap American type Chinese food. It's fine. No bells and whistles. It's a small place that has more carry out than dine in. If you want cheap Chinese that you will be eating for days go to China Ruby. China Ruby's Website One Eyed Bettys is a favorite. They have a really good burger. It's like... a real burger. Bacon, onion, tomato, arugula, cheese, garlic aioli... BACON... yeah. It's good and cooked perfectly every single time. The Looney shrooms appetizer is so good. Deep fried mushrooms filled with goat cheese and cranberries. Can it get better than that? Oh wait, it does. Bettys also has breakfast. Their best dish is their strudel. It's a savory strudel with cream cheese and sausage wrapped in a filo dough-type deal. I crave this and hope that they have it every weekend, but it's a special and comes and goes. I want it permanently on the menu because I love it that much.
I'm just going to be honest... Rosie O'Grady's is not my type of place. It's a sports bar and while I think it's a fine place for sports people, it's not a great place for me. I'm not a huge sports fan. OK, I'm not a fan of the sports at all. So, this place doesn't have a huge draw for me. However, it's great for work events and Friday work outings. I have eaten a good amount of their food and the only things I think are worth mentioning are their bacon cheddar burger and their pizzas. They seem to be consistently good. Everything else you can get better and cheaper at your local Coney Island. I know, that sounds harsh, but I quite like Coney Island... oh wait, that was harsh to Rosies... welp. The truth hurts sometimes.
Recommendation: Get a pizza. Get the burger (medium rare - even if you like it medium. They overcook). That is all. Rosie O'Grady's Website |
