I think for a dive bar this one is tops. Decent selection of beers and food. I'm not sure it's the cleanliest place ever, but they have awesome burgers. If you want a decent burger and don't mind hanging out with some hipsters of the D come here and grab one. They are huge. Chances are you will take the other half home. It's pretty dimly lit and most people keep to themselves. They have one pool table if you feel the need to be recreational. I have passed by this place, but I finally went in a couple summers ago. From the outside this does not seem like a place I would go into by myself. Sometimes there's homeless people hanging outside of the entrance and/or random drunk people. That's always fun. =) [review written on Yelp years ago]

Their burgers are like greasy delicious patty melts on buttered grilled bread. Throw on some cheddar and thick bacon and you have a decent cheeseburger. Basically I think they cook them in butter (butter burger) because they taste so good. I don't eat butter that much so when I have, I instantly miss it.
Sadly, they are closed. However, ever since I was young this place has been opening and closing and opening and closing... Dairy DANS might be closed, but Dairy 'insert other name' will probably open soon. Hopefully they will keep the burgers they way they are. Drenched in butter! This is downtown Mesick. You really can't miss it because "downtown" is almost nonexistent. Brother restaurant to Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup, Phat Sammich had it going on with the sandwiches. They were hot, phat, and delicious. However, they are gone. Long gone. :(
They served a couple soups that GCATS served and if you read that review you would know that I think they are yummy! The one thing I wanted to comment on about Phat Sammich is the chips. I know... so what about chips? Um.. they make them there and they are salty and seasoned to perfection. They would always sell out. The two times I had them they were so good that I kept calling and randomly stopping by to get some. So long Phat Sammy! I'll miss ya. Ok, I stopped off at Frenchies after reading reviews for the place. It's small. When I say small... I mean small. That's ok, but if you plan on going you should know that you will be waiting. We waited and there was hardly anyone in the place... but it was full. Think about that for a moment. :)
I had the pastrami sandwich, which was really delicious. I would have liked to of had pickles - lots of pickles. The mustard was just as a honey mustard should be. It was extra honey...E? The service was a little slow, but I didn't mind lingering around for a bit since I had no place to go. If you're in a hurry then I wouldn't plan on stopping in because you will probably be late going to wherever you planned on going. It's a cute little place though. I'm a fan of supporting local. I want to go back and try out some more sandwiches. Frenchies Website Well, Tecumseh is not a place I travel to often. I have family that lives this way, but whenever I'm in this town I have to stop here. This is a little hole in the wall bar. No hipsters in this joint. You'll more than likely see lots of flannels and John Deere hats. This is a small town and therefore has small town qualities. But enough about that...let's get to the food.
I don't really know what's on the menu. Bar food...specifically their Maudie Burger. It looks like a regular burger, but it doesn't taste like a regular burger. You can get a 1/2 pound or a pound. There is nothing particularly special about this place except that they make a mean burger. It's juicy and it's made just the way you want it. You have the option of three types of fries. What's even better is that at the end of the meal when you get your tab you have not paid more than 8 bucks for a huge burger, a bunch of fries and a pop. That is a double thumbs up from me. I don't think I would ever drive out this way specifically for this burger, but if you are around the area, might as well stop in and check it out. |
Giving you a taste of what I taste. From gourmet to everyday. No pretentious bull - just good food.
