My first trip to Kabin Kruesers felt a little bit like the heavens had opened… there are so few fantastic, fresh seafood restaurants around here and I’ve felt the lack for a long time. In my few visits, I learned a couple things that can make this a perfect choice for anyone who wants to be truly, soul-deep satisfied with a seafood meal.
First: Order anything with crab topping. The first time I went, I had a spicy New Orlean’s style salmon with Maryland crab topping. Between this and the herb butter on fresh, steaming salted bread, Utopia had arrived. They also have a crab and shrimp lemon sauce that you can top any fish with. Also a win for everyone. Second: Happy hour is great! I enjoyed the fish tacos and stuffed mushrooms immensely. At this great value, sharing a full price entrée with a friend and cheaper drinks makes this place affordable as well as divine. Third: DO go to happy hour after a wonderful, sunny bike ride on a perfect day with someone you love… this happened to be my dad, and this meal was the best end to a great day. Last: (important!): Don’t go during prime time on a Saturday night. Our 45 minute wait turned into 1 ½ hours, and worst of all, the privileged clientele made this wait less than enjoyable as two people directly cut in front of me when I tried to wait for a bar spot instead (first come, first serve). The meal was good, but it was “Saturday night” expensive… and after the wait and irritating experience, I left pretty unhappy despite the good food. Kabin Kruser's Website
