This place is not a five star restaurant. I wouldn't even call it a restaurant. It would be more like a stand except you can actually walk a couple steps inside and sit in some sticky booths and look at a collection of stuffed animals and dolls. lol
Even though the counters were sticky, the walls were greasy and the service was semi-ok...this place was still awesome. They had sandwiches and hot dogs, but I specifically came here for the Chicago Style Hot dogs. This place did them right. I could care less if I paid almost three bucks for one. They were that good. Also, any place that gives you an option of a half and half basket (waffle fries & onion rings or if they were french fries the "love basket") is always good in my book. If you got a small it was a baby mound and if you order "the boat" there was no way you could eat them all. I drive by every time I'm around the South U with the hopes that they will one day reopen... But then when I see the covered windows my heart breaks all over again =) heh. The only other place that I found that is relatively close that makes Chi-dogs is Hippos in R.O. They just don't do it justice.

This place is open for those after hours bar people looking to sober up before making the trek back home. It's interesting to people watch late at night/early in the morning. You go here for the hippie hash. I know people have to go here for other things too... I just don't see why they would get anything other than this. The hash comes with an assortment of vegetables and a meat if you'd like (I like gyro meat) with a good amount of feta. The combination of ingredients make for a really good hash.
I think it's cool that my mom and dad used to hangout here when they were younger. Every time I'm there I think, "how cool is this?" This place has been around for a minute or two. Good for them! I hope they are still around for my children too (if I have some). If you're looking for it, you can't miss it. It's the tin can mobile home. Fleetwood's Website I am probably biased, but I think this is one of the best burgers I have ever had. However, I grew up eating Blimpy Burger. It's just one of those things that when you think of your childhood and burgers you think... Blimpy. They are an interesting restaurant, formerly located in a house off of state street going toward the downtown area. There is an order to which you must do things. You must order and then sit down. Don't be thinking you can just sit your stuff down because you will get barked at. It's part of this places charn I suppose. You can have your burger any way you want it. Single, double, triple, quadruple... and top it with whatever they have going on. If you live in Ann Arbor you have more than likely already been here, but if you don't, you should try it out. I hear they moved. It's not really ever going to be the same for me. I would like to remember Blimpy Burger in the original location. That's where they have always been in my mind and that's where I would like to always remember. Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger's Website Ann Arbor is getting more and more interesting food options. They are a pretty hip city and this is just one of there hip places. Frita is Cuban style street food with a casual clean atmosphere. Their fritas (sandwiches - cuban burgers) are really good. I get the chorizo every time I go because it's got a bit of a kick to it and it's always juicy. Sometimes I add the tropical slaw, avocado spread, and an egg to make it complete. I haven't had the loaded plantains, but I hear people really like them.
Don't be intimidated by not quite knowing what the heck you're going to get. That's part of the experience. Whatever gets plopped in front of you will no doubt be tasty. Enjoy! Frita Batido's Website If you are a native of Ann Arbor, Mi pass up this review because you already know how awesome this place is. Zingerman's Deli and Roadhouse cater to the free-range and fresh produce Arborites and beyond. If you are from out of town this is definitely a place to stop. Huge sandwiches, fresh toppings, no hormone injected meats. Turkey, pastrami, corned beef, chicken, beef, turkey, fish, pork, hot dogs, hash, vegetarian, salads, soups, and more! The one downfall of Zingerman's Delicatessen (and Z Roadhouse) is that for all the 'goodness' you get… you definitely pay a sh*t ton of $ for a sandwich. If you're big ballin' shot calling' maybe you'd buy a sandwich a day, but for us everyday foodies… one every once in awhile is good enough. Buy one and share it with someone. The image on the left was a custom sandwich. #76 Thad's Yes I Can! (free range chicken, applewood smoked bacon, muenster cheese, roasted red pepper spread, onions, tomatoes, avocado and cheddar cheese on roasted sour dough bread).
