I have said this before and I'll say it again, I have never had one bad meal here. They serve lunch and breakfast and close at 3pm. Their burgers are good, their sandwiches are good and their breakfast options are good. I mean really... I just can't say anything bad about Mae's food.
My favorites are the club (regular and California) and the W (skill it with sausage, bacon, onions, mushrooms, peppers, cheddar - sub for feta, with two eggs anyway you want them). You get really good portions too. I always eat half there and eat half later or save it for another meal, breakfast or lunch the next day.
Their bacon is thick, juicy, and delicious. Just how bacon should be. Their bennies are amazing and if you love english muffins you should pay a little extra and get one. They are thick and come right from Avalon Bakery in Detroit. In fact, all of their breads do! How cool is that. You won't find any Lays chips or Coke here. This place is only donned with Faygo and Better Made products.
I am happy that they are becoming more popular. When I went frequently, not many people knew of their existence. They really are a small diner in an awkward location. If you blink you could miss them. Now that they are so popular, the wait time is a bit too long. Since the restaurant is so small there isn't a lot of seating options. Though sometimes I don't mind waiting other times I just want to sit down and order and not wait 30-60 minutes for a chair. I'm hoping they can expand soon. If they do, they will see me more.
If you don't get up early or come on relatively off peak times... you should probably go somewhere else. You have to plan your trip here. But if you don't mind waiting then again, the food will not disappoint you.
