Kalpapruek - Bangkok, Thailand

The last day in Bangkok we thought we did it all.  We jam packed our trip with tours and food galore.  There was no way we could possibly squeeze in more goodness... and then we entered Kalpapruek (the original location Pramuan and Silom - 27, Pramuan Rd., Suriyawong, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500 Thailand).  To our surprise it was only an 8 minute walk down the street.  Why were we eating at the western burger place right next to our hotel all this time when this gem was in walking distance?!?!  Rookie mistake.

We were told it's super busy during the lunch time and one needs a reservation, but after that lunch rush you should be able to find a table.  We sat inside (there is an outdoors), which was air conditioned.  The menu was very well laid out with tons of very enticing photos of food and a million different dishes we wanted to try.  If I could have, I would have gotten everything on the menu.  Literally EVERYTHING sounded amazing.  After having a couple large dishes I am almost quite positive that they would have been just as amazing as they looked.

I would love to say we just happened upon this place as if the stars somehow aligned and we were supposed to be there in that moment and all was right in the world.  That's partially true.  All was right in the world because we got to eat at one of the most delicious places.  However, it wasn't happenstance.  Our Foodie guide from Bangkok food tours introduced us to their fantabulous green chicken curry at the very end of our tour.  This is the curry that all curries want to be folks.  You really haven't lived your lives until you've eaten this.

This restaurant is owned by the son of a Thai aristocrat, Mom Chao Bhisadhet Rachanee.  The quality of the food does not lack and the price is really affordable (this is by American standards).  As you look at the photos keep in mind that the meal was less than 30 USD for ALL of it - drinks included.  If I wouldn't have came here the last day in Bangkok I would have eaten there everyday.  It did not disappoint.  If you find yourself in Bangkok and on Silom go there.  Get the green curry with chicken.  If you're scared, ask for the smaller portion and order more.  I ordered the smaller portion so I could fill up on more food.  Really... if you're a foodie... you will want to eat everything on the menu.

We ordered the green chicken curry with roti (it's like a naan, but crispy and delicious), sea bass with mango and spicy sour sauce, northern Thai platter with assorted pork dish with vegetables, fries, one sparking green apple drink, one coca cola, and two waters.

It was heaven.

"Ohhhh the places you'll go…"  Growing up all I ever wanted to do was help people, learn, and travel.  I'm lucky.  I get to do all of those things and more.
This is just some food from some places I've been.
