Brother restaurant to Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup, Phat Sammich had it going on with the sandwiches. They were hot, phat, and delicious. However, they are gone. Long gone. :(
They served a couple soups that GCATS served and if you read that review you would know that I think they are yummy! The one thing I wanted to comment on about Phat Sammich is the chips. I know... so what about chips? Um.. they make them there and they are salty and seasoned to perfection. They would always sell out. The two times I had them they were so good that I kept calling and randomly stopping by to get some. So long Phat Sammy! I'll miss ya.

Since this place closed I won't spend too much time talking about it, but everyone who hasn't been here should feel sad they didn't try it. This place was awesome. I mean really... only awesome places have 'flights of soup'. Sometimes you want to have more than one, but then you have to commit to buying one bowl, but you really want to taste two other ones. It's kind of unfair because you end up buying three soups and only wanting a little bit of each one of them and then spend three times as much. Obviously, I thought the soup flight was awesome. I'm one of those people that love a little bit of everything!
Their sandwiches were really yummy and they had crisp delicious sweet potato fries. You got really big portions and everything I had here was really quite good. The pot pie sticks out in my mind. There was something sweet AND savory about it. Literally the best pot pie I have ever had. I've tried hard to recreate it, but alas I cannot. I'll keep trying though. What was extra awesome about this place is that you thought maybe it was just a soup, sandwich and salad place. If you thought this you would be wrong. They also did savory dinners like meatloaf, beefs, steaks, mashed potatoes and gravy type meals. When I tried to go there and saw their doors closed I thought they may be just renovating, but after a year I realized... they aren't coming back. It was a sad day. Ok, I stopped off at Frenchies after reading reviews for the place. It's small. When I say small... I mean small. That's ok, but if you plan on going you should know that you will be waiting. We waited and there was hardly anyone in the place... but it was full. Think about that for a moment. :)
I had the pastrami sandwich, which was really delicious. I would have liked to of had pickles - lots of pickles. The mustard was just as a honey mustard should be. It was extra honey...E? The service was a little slow, but I didn't mind lingering around for a bit since I had no place to go. If you're in a hurry then I wouldn't plan on stopping in because you will probably be late going to wherever you planned on going. It's a cute little place though. I'm a fan of supporting local. I want to go back and try out some more sandwiches. Frenchies Website I love everything about this place. Except that it's in Birmingham (not a fan). They sell sandwiches and soup. Gluten-free options and some delicious photos from @indulgedetroit persuaded me to come in. I'm glad I finally made it. They did not disappoint. Stop on in and grab yourself one of their sandwiches!
Frank Street Bakery's Website If you are a native of Ann Arbor, Mi pass up this review because you already know how awesome this place is. Zingerman's Deli and Roadhouse cater to the free-range and fresh produce Arborites and beyond. If you are from out of town this is definitely a place to stop. Huge sandwiches, fresh toppings, no hormone injected meats. Turkey, pastrami, corned beef, chicken, beef, turkey, fish, pork, hot dogs, hash, vegetarian, salads, soups, and more! The one downfall of Zingerman's Delicatessen (and Z Roadhouse) is that for all the 'goodness' you get… you definitely pay a sh*t ton of $ for a sandwich. If you're big ballin' shot calling' maybe you'd buy a sandwich a day, but for us everyday foodies… one every once in awhile is good enough. Buy one and share it with someone. The image on the left was a custom sandwich. #76 Thad's Yes I Can! (free range chicken, applewood smoked bacon, muenster cheese, roasted red pepper spread, onions, tomatoes, avocado and cheddar cheese on roasted sour dough bread).
